PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the State government has formulated Yoga policy -2025 and is setting up 10 and 50-bed capacity Ayush hospitals in every district of the State. He was addressing the International Yoga festival at Muni Ki Reti in Tehri district on Monday. He said that Yoga is not just exercise but a holistic way of living and it connects the soul with the divine. Exhorting the youngsters to make Yoga a part of their lives, he said that it can become their best ally in busting stress. The CM said that the festival, organized under the joint aegis of the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam and the Uttarakhand Tourism department has been playing an important role in spreading Yoga for the last 35 years. He said that Yoga is an invaluable asset of India’s ancient and great spiritual tradition. “Thousands of years ago, our saints demonstrated the path of balance between body, mind and spirit through Yoga. Today, it has become a powerful foundation for a healthy life, mental peace and spiritual progress for the entire world,’’ he said. The CM said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 proposed in the United Nations to celebrate June 21st as International Yoga Day. It has helped in spreading Yoga to more than 180 countries of the world. He said that Uttarakhand is not only the land of gods, but also the land of Yoga. Its sacred rivers, serene atmosphere, clean climate and spirituality provides an ideal environment for Yoga. The CM averred that a large number of Yoga lovers visit Uttarakhand to practice Yoga and meditation. “It is also a matter of great pride for us that today Rishikesh is being recognized worldwide as the Yoga capital of the world,’’ he said. The CM said that more than 300 Ayush-based Ayushman Aarogya Kendras are currently operating in the State. Experts are also providing Ayush consultations to citizens through the e-Sanjeevani portal. The Uttarakhand Ayush policy promotes pharmaceutical manufacturing, wellness, education, research and the cultivation of medicinal plants. The CM added that one spiritual economic zone is being established in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions each to promote Ayurveda and naturopathy, Yoga and spiritual tourism. Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj said that Yoga is an ancient practice. Forest minister Subodh Uniyal said that today millions of people are becoming healthy through Yoga. The managing director of GMVN, Prateek Jain informed that more than 2,500 registrations have been received for the International Yoga Festival this year.
