The present BJP government in Uttarakhand led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to complete four years in office, and the BJP has decided to take the achievements of the State government during this period to the people across the State. Dhami had taken oath as Chief Minister for the second time on March 23, and the government will complete four years in office on March 23, this year. With less than a year left for the next Assembly elections in the State, the BJP already appears to be gearing up for the polls, apart from holding party level organisational meetings to strengthen the party at the booth level and other lower levels, the party has already begun inviting national leaders to hold rallies in the state.
While Union Home Minister Amit Shah, arguably the second most powerful and influential BJP leader at the national level after Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, had addressed a huge public rally in Haridwar on March 7, other leaders are also following the suit.
As part of the programme to mark the completion of four years of the government, the BJP is set to organise a massive public rally in Haldwani onMarch 21, which will be addressed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. According to the sources in the party, the ruling party palns to highlight the achievements and developmental works undertaken by the State government over the past four years through the party organisation so that the information reaches people at the grassroots level.
The BJP leadership has decided to celebrate the completion of four years of the Dhami government on a large scale, particularly in view of the upcoming Assembly elections early next year. In view of the approaching electoral year, the ruling party has begun intensifying its outreach among the public, focusing on the government’s schemes, development works and achievements.
Earlier, on March 7. a massive public meeting was organised in Haridwar in which Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah participated. The rally in Haridwar was organised to mark the completion of four years of the State government and to launch and inaugurate several development schemes and projects. Following the same pattern, the BJP is now preparing to organise another large gathering in Haldwani this month on 21st. Rajnath Singh is believed by the party to hold considerable influence among voters in Uttarakhand since he is a Rajput leader and the Rajput votes have majority among the Pahari population both in Garhwal and Kumaon region.
The rally in Haldwani will be dedicated to the completion of four years of the Dhami government. Preparations for the event have been intensified by the party organisation, and a large turnout of party workers and supporters is expected. During the rally, Rajnath Singh is likely to highlight the achievements of the state government during the past four years and also energise party workers in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections in 2027.
During an informal chat with the media persons, State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt confirmed the upcoming rally. He noted that just as a large gathering was held in Haridwar to mark the completion of four years of the current state government, a similar massive public meeting will now be organised in Haldwani.
