SIR of electoral rolls to start in Uttarakhand from April PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Taking a stern note of the slow pace of the mapping of the voters as part of the pre Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in some districts of the State, the chief electoral officer (CEO) BVRC Purushottam has directed notices to be served to the electoral registration officers (EROs) concerned. The direction was given by the CEO during a video conferencing session with all the district magistrates on Tuesday. The CEO expressed his displeasure at the slow pace of the mapping of the voters. He also directed the DMs to prepare action plans for the SIR in the rural and urban areas. The CEO informed that mapping of 87 per cent of the voters in the State has been done. He said that the pace of mapping of the voters is slow in Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts. He directed that the officers and employees of the municipal corporations should be deployed in the SIR work in the urban areas. He also directed that the training of the booth level officers (BLO) should be continuously done. In the meeting, the CEO directed the DMs to hold meetings with the political parties for 100 per cent appointment of the booth level agents (BLA) of the political parties in all the booths before the commencement of the SIR in the State. Purushottam said that all the districts should prepare the plan for distribution of enumeration form so that they are distributed in time. Similarly, 97 per cent mapping is done in Almora, 95 per cent each in Pithoragarh, Tehri and Chamoli districts, 93 per cent in Pauri, 89 per cent in Haridwar and 88 per cent in Nainital district. Udham Singh Nagar and Dehradun districts are lagging in the mapping activity as only 77 and 71 per cent work is done there respectively.
