Dehradun, 17 Mar: The Chairman of the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, Narendrajeet Singh Bindra, paid a courtesy call on Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Lok Bhavan, here, today. On this occasion, he shared details regarding the preparations for the upcoming Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra and the opening date of the shrine.
He informed the Governor that, this year, the sacred portals of Shri Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara will be ceremoniously opened for devotees on 23 May. The yatra will commence on 20 May with the departure of the first jatha from Rishikesh under the leadership of the ‘Panj Pyare’.
The Governor conducted a detailed review of the preparations, arrangements, and infrastructure development works along the pilgrimage routes. He directed all departments concerned to work in coordination to ensure that the yatra is safe, smooth, and convenient for devotees.
Appreciating the effective coordination between the Trust, the government, and the local administration, the Governor emphasised that all necessary arrangements should be completed in a timely manner to ensure that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience.
He also extended his best wishes for the success of the Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra and for a safe, pleasant, and auspicious journey for devotees arriving from across the country and abroad.
