The wait for the state subsidy under the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana is soon to end for over 5,500 beneficiaries in Uttarakhand. The Cabinet has decided to extend the benefit of the state subsidy to all those whose solar power plants became operational by March 31, 2025.
Under the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana, a subsidy of ₹85,800 for a 3-kilowatt project was being provided by the Central Government, alongside a state government subsidy of ₹51,000 (calculated at a rate of ₹17,000 per kilowatt) for a 3-kilowatt system. The state subsidy component had been discontinued effective April 1 of last year. During the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, it was decided that all solar energy projects that became operational by March 31, 2025, would be granted the benefit of the state subsidy.
Meanwhile, the process of disbursing the state subsidy through UREDA has already commenced. Following the receipt of budgetary funds, UREDA has released the state subsidy payments to all beneficiaries whose projects had become operational by January 2024. Now, in accordance with the Cabinet’s decision, the subsidies for all remaining beneficiaries will also be allocated once the necessary budgetary funds are received. The process for allocating subsidies to 3,000 beneficiaries is currently underway.
