PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Kedarnath Yatra this year will be plastic free. He also directed the administration to complete all the preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra within the next two days. The CM visited Rudraprayag district on Thursday where he held a ground inspection of the arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra -2026. The portals of Kedarnath Dham are opening on April 22 this year. The CM travelled on National Highway -107 from Rudraprayag to Guptkashi. He inspected the Jawadi bypass, under construction tunnel on the NH, the encroachments removed at Tilwara and landslide sensitive Banswada, Kund and Kakdagad areas. The CM inspected the progress of patchworks, signages , crash barriers and security arrangements and gave necessary directions to the officers. He directed the officers that the mechanical excavators should always remain deployed at all the landslide zones on the Yatra route. The CM also held a meeting with the officers of district administration at Guptkashi. In the meeting, the CM directed the officers to make adequate arrangements of medicines, drinking water and food packets at passenger sheds and police posts near the landslide affected areas so that immediate help can be given during an emergency. Emphasising on ‘Green Yatra’, the CM said that the Yatra should be plastic free. He said that strict action will be taken against those found involved in spreading rumours. The CM directed the officers to communicate with all stakeholders to solve their problems. He said that demand for additional supplies of LPG is made from the central government so that there is no inconvenience during the Yatra. Dhami said that the women self-help groups should be connected with the Yatra to promote local products under the ‘vocal for local’ campaign and to strengthen the economy of local women. He directed the officers to make proper arrangements for drinking water, lighting arrangements and others so that there is no inconvenience to the Yatris. Cabinet minister Bharat Singh Chaudhary, Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal and others attended the meeting.
