The respite from the heat that had been felt since the beginning of May has been waning over the past two days. While temperatures have remained normal, the scorching sun and hot winds have become a source of concern. The effects of the scorching sun from the morning and the strong, hot winds by afternoon are clearly visible.
The heat has become particularly troublesome during the afternoon. Looking at the data, the maximum daytime temperature in Dehradun remained normal at 35.8 degrees. However, the minimum night temperature was recorded at 20.1 degrees, two degrees below normal. Even in the mountainous areas, the bright sunshine during the day brought a brief feeling of heat.
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center, a yellow alert has been issued for lightning and strong winds of up to 40 kilometers per hour in parts of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts. Light rain and snowfall are also predicted in the higher elevations.
