Dehradun, 2 Jun: Students studying in government polytechnic institutions and other technical educational institutions across the state will now have the opportunity to learn about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and coding alongside their regular academic curriculum. To facilitate this initiative, the Technical Education Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kodyogi Foundation and Computer & Learn Foundation.
The MoU was signed on Monday during a programme chaired by Technical Education Minister D. Dhan Singh Rawat. Under this agreement, students of polytechnic institutions across the state will receive free training in the fundamentals of AI, coding, prompt engineering, and their practical applications.
On the occasion, Dr Rawat said that the state government is continuously working to modernise technical education and make it more aligned with current industry requirements and employment opportunities. He emphasised that the initiative will not only equip students with emerging technological skills but also enhance their problem-solving abilities and foster an innovative mindset.
He further stated that students will be able to access the training through their smartphones, in their preferred language, and completely free of cost. Those who successfully complete the programme will be awarded two academic credits by the department. The programme will not require any additional computer laboratories, infrastructure, or teacher training. The Kodyogi Foundation will independently finance and operate the programme, while the department will ensure its effective outreach across all polytechnic institutions in the state.
On the occasion of the MoU signing, Prashant Chaudhary, Founder of Kodyogi Foundation, said that the foundation’s journey began in Uttarakhand. Many polytechnic students from the state acquired technical skills through the foundation and are now serving in senior positions at multinational companies. Addressing the students, he remarked, “If you have a smartphone and a willingness to learn, that is enough.”
The meeting was attended by Dr Ranjit Sinha, Prof Tripta Thakur, Deshraj, Vyomkesh Dubey, Dr Mukesh Pandey, Prashant Chaudhary, and Sai Prasad Sale, along with other departmental officials.
