
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haldwani The national president of Nitin Nabin has accused the Congress party of engaging in divisive politics, insulting Dalits and ignoring the religious and cultural sentiments of Uttarakhand. He was addressing the meeting of the extended state committee executive of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Haldwani on Wednesday. Nabin said that Uttarakhand is not only a politically important state, but also is a land of gods. He said, “Uttarakhand is a land of gods, with Lord Shiva residing in every particle of it.”. Nabin said that the people of Uttarakhand will reject the politics that insults the land of gods. Launching an attack on the Congress party on the Dalit issue, the BJP president said that throughout Congress’s political history, it has insulted Dalit leaders. He said that the Congress never gave due respect to the architect of the Constitution BR Ambedkar. Nabin aveered that Dalits and marginalized groups have achieved respect and empowerment under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He said that the objective of BJP in Uttarakhand is not only to form the government or gain power, but to promote an ideology and on that basis to give direction to the development and public service of the State. In his address, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami listed achievements of the State government and said that efforts are being made to make Uttarakhand one of the developed States of the country. On the Haldwani ‘purification’ issue, he said that the Congress party has no evidence which can prove that the purification was done to insult some individual. He said that the Congress party is raising the issue to gain political mileage. The president of the State unit of BJP, Mahendra Bhatt said that the strength of the organisation is the biggest asset of the BJP. He exhorted the party workers to take the welfare schemes of the Central and State governments to every nook and corner of the State. Bhatt said that the party leaders and workers should get ready to contest the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections of 2027 with full might. He stressed that the workers should work to make their booth strong and ensure that the party candidate registers victory in their booth. All the senior leaders of the party, ministers and the heads of various organisations affiliated to the BJP attended the meeting.
