Dehradun, 1 Oct: State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar paid a courtesy call on Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Lok Bhavan here on Thursday. During the meeting, he presented the Governor with a report and a coffee table book on the Urban Local Bodies General Elections 2024–25.
Briefing the Governor about the report, the State Election Commissioner said that it contains detailed data and analysis related to the Urban Local Bodies General Elections. The coffee table book, meanwhile, highlights not only the election process but also public participation and the dedication, trust and commitment demonstrated by officers and personnel deployed on election duty. Through photographs from various parts of Uttarakhand, it also showcases the scale and diversity of the local body elections across the state.
The Governor appreciated the report and the coffee table book and said that elections are a fundamental process of democracy. He noted that, along with voters, the officers and personnel engaged in conducting elections play an important role in the electoral process. He said that such documents are useful in preserving the experiences, data and public participation associated with the electoral process.
