
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Uttarkashi Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami claimed that the State’s economy has grown more than one and a half times and per capita income has increased by more than 41 per cent in the last four years. He said this while on an Uttarkashi tour to participate in the Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Sankalp Sabha held at Ramlila Maidan on Wednesday. “More than 20,000 new industries have been established in the State while the number of hotels has increased by about 25 per cent and homestays by more than 50 per cent. More than three lakh women have become Lakhpati Didis. Besides, Uttarakhand has secured first place in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals Index and has received the honour of Most Film Friendly State for four consecutive years. Uttarakhand has also achieved the feat of becoming a fully literate State,” he stated. Dhami also referred to the huge pilgrimage turnout at the Char Dham Yatra thanks to the security arrangements made by the State government. “Over 56 lakh devotees have already undertaken the Yatra this year,” he said. This aside, he mentioned enactment of Uniform Civil Code, stringent anti-conversion laws, anti-riot laws, land laws and anti-copying laws as some of the achievements of his government. Speaking of the development Uttarkashi district has been witnessing, he said that foundation stone for 50 projects with an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore had been laid in the district, of which work on 26 projects has been completed and work on 24 projects is underway. He performed Puja at Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Shakti Temple in Uttarkashi. Along with others, he watched the broadcast of the programme commemorating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service.
