
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government considers the traders not just taxpayers but important partners in development. He was addressing a provincial trader’s conference in Haldwani on Friday. The CM said that the business community is the backbone of the State’s economy and the safety, respect and protection of its interests are the State government’s priorities. He said that the traders also play a vital role in job creation, boosting the local economy and economic progress of the State. “The endeavour of the State government is to provide traders with a fear-free, safe and transparent environment, freeing them from unnecessary procedures and office visits. Special attention is being paid to timely resolution of traders’ problems and continuous communication with them,’’ he said. He assured that relief will be provided to the traders affected by natural calamities or other disasters and regular meetings will be held by reorganizing the Udyog Mitra committees at the State and district level. The CM announced that the information regarding accident insurance for GST registered traders will be widely disseminated so that dependents of eligible traders can complete the insurance claim process in time. Dhami said that a single window system will be introduced in the tourism business to simplify registration process. He said that parking facilities will be developed at necessary places on the Char Dham Yatra. The CM said that the Uttarakhand Startup Policy and Rs 200 crore venture fund have been established to encourage start-ups and innovation in the State. He stated that local trade, tourism, small industries and self-employment play a vital role in strengthening Uttarakhand’s economy. The government is striving to provide the state’s businessmen with opportunities to establish themselves not only in local markets but also in national and international markets. He added that continuous efforts are being made to make Uttarakhand a major centre of economic power along with spiritual power. Lok Sabha MP Ajay Bhatt, cabinet minister Ram Singh Kaida, MLA Banshidhar Bhagat and Sarita Arya, mayor Gajraj Singh Bisht and others attended the programme.
