On Thursday morning, snowfall at Kedarnath Dham blanketed the sacred abode of Baba Kedar in a pristine white layer of snow. Devotees were visibly thrilled by the spectacular sight; some were seen capturing the snow-covered shrine on camera, while others took selfies to preserve the memory of this beautiful moment. However, the snowfall has also brought a significant drop in temperature. Meanwhile, weather conditions have shifted in the lower regions of the district as well; areas including the district headquarters, Ukhimath, Guptkashi, Jakholi, and Basukedar remained overcast since morning, accompanied by light rain, which led to a decline in temperatures. The portals (doors) of Kedarnath Dham are scheduled to close for the winter season on November 11, 2026. In the lead-up to this closure, a large number of devotees are arriving to seek the blessings of Baba Kedar. Despite the snowfall and the cold, the enthusiasm of the devotees remains undiminished, and they continue to arrive for darshan (worship) amidst these changing weather conditions. So far this pilgrimage season, over 1.853 million (18.53 lakh) devotees have visited Kedarnath Dham. On Wednesday alone, 8,376 pilgrims offered prayers at the shrine, bringing the total number of visitors for the current season to 1,853,032. As the date for the closing of the portals draws near, the steady flow of devotees arriving at the temple continues.
