Pauri, 5 Nov: State Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi participated today in the Herbal Kumbh, Medicinal Herb Agriculture Fair and Shri Dhanvantari Mahotsav, organised by Patanjali Trust at Mala village in the Yamkeshwar Assembly constituency of Pauri Garhwal district. During the event, the Agriculture Minister also visited various stalls set up at the Herbal Kumbh.
On the occasion, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that Uttarakhand is a land of Ayurveda and medicinal plants. For centuries, our sages and seers have shown the path to maintaining human health and well-being through Ayurveda and medicinal herbs. He added that even during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ayurveda played an important role in helping people across the country stay healthy and safe.
Appreciating the efforts being made by Patanjali Trust to promote medicinal herb-based agriculture, Ayurveda and farmers’ livelihoods, the Agriculture Minister said that such events would play an important role in connecting farmers with new opportunities and avenues for self-employment. Promotion of medicinal herb cultivation would increase farmers’ incomes, generate employment opportunities at the local level and help check migration from hilly areas. This would also strengthen the State’s economy.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State Government is continuously working towards making farmers self-reliant in the fields of agriculture and horticulture. He said that the goal is to bring Uttarakhand at par with Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir in agriculture and horticulture by 2030. To achieve this objective, modern technology, innovation and traditional agricultural practices are being actively promoted.
Cabinet Minister Bharat Chaudhary also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
Cabinet Minister Bharat Chaudhary, Chairman of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee Hemant Dwivedi, Acharya Balkrishna and several other dignitaries were present at the event.
