Saturday, 18 MAY 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN After abruptly terminating his election campaign in Haryana on Thursday, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has plunged himself into streamlining the Char Dham Yatra. For the second consecutive day on Friday, the CM reviewed the arrangements of the Yatra at the secretariat. He also visited Badkot in Uttarkashi district to take a firsthand account of the Yatra. The CM has directed the secretaries associated with the Char Dham Yatra to consistently monitor the arrangements. He said that the senior officers should personally visit the Dhams to oversee the arrangements. The CM said that all the officers should cooperate with the district magistrates and superintendent of police of the districts associated with the Char Dham Yatra. On a terse note the CM said that laxity will not be tolerated. He directed that basic amenities such as drinking water, electricity, toilets, milk for children and food should be provided to the pilgrims at the place where they are staying. Drinking water and other facilities should be provided on the bridle paths. He directed the transport secretary to keep special focus on the fitness of the vehicles. The CM said that arrangements of alternative routes should be made for crowd management. He said that the pilgrims should be sent to the Yatra only after registration and on the mentioned dates. The Rudraprayag DM Saurabh Gaharwar said that the Kedarnath Yatra is going on smoothly. He informed that 11,000 pilgrims have done Darshan on Friday. The DM said that the Yatra route is being continuously monitored by CCTV cameras and adequate police force is deployed on the Yatra route. Gaharwar said that he himself monitored the arrangements from Rudraprayag to Gaurikund on Thursday night. The Uttarkashi DM Meharban Singh Bisht said that 11,000 and 10,000 pilgrims are expected to pay obeisance at Gangotri and Yamunotri dhams respectively on Friday. He said that basic facilities are being made available to the pilgrims where they are staying. SP Uttarkashi informed the CM that some people with forged registrations were detected on check posts on Friday. The Chamoli DM, Himanshu Khurana said that the Yatra is operating in a smooth manner in Badrinath. He said that in view of the expected increase in the number of pilgrims from next week, necessary arrangements are being made. The principal secretary R K Sudhanshu, secretary AS Hyanki, Pankaj Pandey, Sachin Kurve, Garhwal commissioner VS Pandey and other officers were present in the meeting.
