Tuesday, 28 MAY 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that in view of expected increase in the number of pilgrims every year in the Char Dham Yatra there is a need to calculate the carrying capacity of the shrines and important places located on the Yatra route. He made this observation while taking a review meeting of the arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra, Manaskhand Mandir Mala mission, Kainchi Dham and Purnagiri at the State secretariat on Monday. The CM said that proposals for parking and other basic facilities at important places of pilgrimage and tourism should be sent to the department of housing. He said that a special plan for the peak period of Char Dham Yatra should be prepared. Dhami said that before the start of the Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail services a comprehensive plan for providing parking and other basic facilities in and around Karnprayag should be prepared. Expressing satisfaction at the smooth functioning of the Char Dham Yatra, the CM said that the officers should continue working in the same spirit to ensure that the Yatra remains smooth in coming days as well. The CM said that the offline registrations will remain closed till May 31 and a decision on its continuation will be taken soon. He also directed the Garhwal and Kumaon commissioners to work on a route diversion plan for the convenience of the pilgrims. The CM said that the number of pilgrims in the Kainchi and Purnagiri Dham are also increasing so arrangements for parking and other facilities should be made there. He said that a shuttle bus service should start for Kainchi Dham. The CM said that better arrangements should be made for the pilgrims at Purnagiri Dham. He added that work at the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission should be done at a fast pace. The CM directed that work in infrastructure development and connectivity should be done for the convenience of the pilgrims. He also stressed in strengthening Garhwal-Kumaon connectivity and suggested that work on improving home stays and other facilities in Ranikhet- Chaukhutia area should be done for connecting both divisions. In the meeting a presentation of the Yatra Samadhan mobile application was made before the CM for making the Yatra more convenient. The objective of the app is to provide all facilities to the pilgrims at one platform. All the stakeholders of the Yatra, the BKTC, administration, hotels, tour operators and transports will remain connected with the App. The CM directed the ITDA and tourism department to make the App better. The chief secretary Radha Raturi, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar, secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Shailesh Bagauli, AS Hyanki, Sachin Kurve and Dilip Jawalkar, commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon divisions and other officers were present in the meeting.
