

By Sunil Sonker Mussoorie, 28 Dec: A cultural programme held at the Town Hall as part of the Mussoorie Winterland Carnival became controversial when some anti-social elements vandalised the premises late at night, damaging government property. The administration and the municipality have taken a strong stance on this incident and warned of strict action against the culprits.
SDM Mussoorie Rahul Anand and Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani expressed deep displeasure over the incident. Both officials clearly stated that the Town Hall is an important government property and the Winterland Carnival is being organised for the entertainment of the people of Mussoorie and tourists, not for creating chaos.

SDM Rahul Anand said that some anti-social elements are deliberately trying to spoil the atmosphere during the carnival. He stated that during the program held late on Saturday night, there was misbehaviour and vandalism in the Town Hall premises, which the administration has taken note of.Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani said that CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the Town Hall, and the footage is being reviewed. Based on the footage, all those who damaged government property are being identified.
The administration has clearly stated that the culprits will not be spared under any circumstances. The SDM Mussoorie said that strict legal action will be taken against all identified individuals under the rules, so that such incidents do not recur in the future.The administration and the municipality have also appealed to the general public and tourists to enjoy the carnival peacefully and with discipline and to immediately inform the administration of any suspicious activity.
