Akshat Kala’s success reflects Academic Vision of Doon University: VC Prof Dangwal

Dehradun, 19 Feb: In yet another significant achievement of the Department of English, School of Languages, Doon University, Akshat Kala, an undergraduate student, has received an offer to pursue Children’s Literature at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, with a full scholarship commencing from September 2026.
The Department of English had introduced Children’s Literature as a Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) specialisation, and Akshat has been a part of the first cohort to study this area under the BA Honours with Research programme. He opted for the course in his third semester and continued to pursue it consistently up to the eighth semester, developing it as his primary research focus. In addition to his academic engagement, Akshat has also been a member of the editorial team for the Coffee Table Book brought out for ‘Vasantotsav’, the annual cultural festival held at the Governor House.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Surekha Dangwal, congratulated the student on this outstanding accomplishment and acknowledged it as a moment of pride not only for the Department and the School but also for the University, reaffirming its commitment to uncompromised quality education in the state of Uttarakhand.
