Dehradun, 28 Dec: Students held a candlelight homage and prayers for Angel Chakma, the student from Tripura who died after being assaulted in Doon. Tarun Vijay and BJP leader Sunil Deodhar expressed solidarity, demanding a speedy probe and strict action against the guilty.
Tripura MLA Shambhu Lal Chakma from Agartala and the mother and father of the slain boy also joined the homage over Zoom.
Shambhulal Chakma asked for all accused to be tried on murder charges and to speed up the trial, while getting the absconding criminal in the police net soon.

The father of Angel Chakma demanded investigation into the conduct of the doctore who did the post mortem. He also demanded that all six accused (one is still absconding) must be tried for murder and asked CM Pushkar Singh Dhami to give justice to Tripura’s Buddhist tribal boy who lost his life to the goons in Dehradun
Tarun Vijay assured the family of the victim of all help and said they will not rest till culprits get capital punishment
It was difficult to hold back tears by those who had assembled when the mother of Angel Chakma spoke on VC. She has lost the entire world she had woven around her son—a handsome, brilliant young man full of hopes, dreams, aspirations, and promise—as she watched him grow. Angel’s murder took place in Uttarakhand, and it is deeply painful for those who belong to this state.
Journalist Indrani Pandhi, Director Ritwik Vijay, Principal Somya Badhani, TS Narang and students from various NE states joined and paid homage.
People from different cross sections, regions, languages, ethnicity came together in Dehradun to pray for Angel Chakma. Buddhist Chakma students chanted prayers, and with moist eyes showed solidarity with Angel’s family.
