Sunday, 04 AUGUST 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN At least 17 persons have died in various parts of the State due to heavy rains and landslides on Wednesday night. More than 6,000 persons have been rescued using Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters and manually since disaster struck. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), two IAF choppers were involved in rescuing stranded pilgrims. The national highway to Rudraprayag is open for traffic till Kund. The bridle path to Kedarnath is blocked by landslide at Lincholi while two temporary bridges are damaged by landslide at Rambada. In Uttarkashi district, the national highways to Gangotri and Yamunotri are open though six rural motor roads are blocked in the district. One State highway and three rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district while three main district roads and four rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district. One State highway and 23 rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun district while one border road and 22 rural roads are blocked in Pithoragarh district. One main district road and four rural motor roads are blocked in Almora district while two rural motor roads are blocked in Champawat district. One State highway and 15 rural motor roads are blocked in Pauri district. In the Chamoli district, the national highway to Badrinath is open though 38 rural motor roads are blocked. One State highway and one rural motor road is blocked in Udham Singh Nagar district while one State highway and 13 rural motor roads are blocked in Tehri district.
