Awareness campaigns launched on road safety & transgender rights in Doon

Dehradun, 9 Jun: Acting on the directions of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority, Nainital, the District Legal Services Authority, Dehradun, has launched two special awareness campaigns from 8 to 14 June 2026 under the titles, ‘Sadak Suraksha–Jeevan Raksha’ and ‘Samman Se Pehchaan (Identity with Dignity)’.
Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Dehradun, Judge Seema Dungrakoti stated that the ‘Sadak Suraksha–Jeevan Raksha’ campaign aims to prevent road accidents, promote adherence to traffic rules and ensure timely assistance to accident victims. During the campaign, the importance of the golden hour, provisions of the Good Samaritan law, motor accident claim cases, cashless treatment schemes and other legal aspects of road safety will be explained to the public. Legal literacy and awareness programmes are being organised in schools, colleges, gram panchayats and public places to spread this information widely.
She added that, at the same time, the ‘Samman Se Pehchaan (Identity with Dignity)’ campaign seeks to raise awareness about the rights, equality and social respect of transgender persons. Information is being provided on the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and the Rules, 2020, with programmes designed to promote equality, dignity and a discrimination‑free environment in society.
Both the campaigns are being implemented with the active involvement of para‑legal volunteers, panel lawyers and other stakeholders of the District Legal Services Authority, Dehradun, ensuring extensive public outreach and dissemination of legal knowledge and rights‑related messages. The authority has appealed to the citizens to participate actively in these campaigns and contribute to building a safe, inclusive and sensitive society.
