BJP Leader Jugran seeks cancellation of Auction of land adjacent to Tehri Lake

Dehradun, 22 Jun: BJP leader Ravindra Jugran has met Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary to the Chief Minister, and urged the government to cancel the proposed auction of approximately 80 nali of land adjoining Tehri Lake in Tehri Garhwal district.
During the meeting, Jugran informed the Secretary that the District Magistrate of Tehri Garhwal had issued a public notice in newspapers regarding the auction of land located in the Ram Gaon and Baur areas along the Tehri Lake shoreline. He requested that the auction process be cancelled with immediate effect.
Jugran also submitted a memorandum along with copies of representations previously sent to the District Magistrate by elected public representatives from the region. He emphasised that the land in question is classified as village community land, grazing land (gauchar), and land reserved for public and community use, and therefore should be protected in the larger public interest.
He further stated that local residents have traditionally used the land for community activities and public purposes, and that its auction could adversely affect local sentiments and community interests.
After considering the matter, the Chief Minister’s Secretary assured Jugran that the issue would be examined seriously and that appropriate action would be taken.
The meeting also included discussions on various issues concerning regional development and public welfare.
