PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The son of former Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’, Divya Pratap Singh is yet to be interrogated in an assault case in Dehradun involving the son of former Uttarakhand chief secretary S Ramaswamy, R Yashovardhan. The police constable allegedly involved in the same incident has also been suspended. Dehradun police issued a notice on Sunday directing Divya Pratap to appear within three days for questioning, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He stated that according to the complaint filed by Yashovardhan at Rajpur police station on November 15, he was driving from Dilaram Chowk towards Sai Mandir on the night of November 14 when a Land Cruiser (UK07 DN 0001) and a Bolero (UK17) tried to overtake him near Pacific Mall. “He stated that he could not give way due to the narrow road. The vehicles allegedly intercepted him near the Mussoorie Diversion, where the occupants allegedly stopped him, abused him, assaulted him and threatened to kill him. The complainant claimed he did not know either men but one of them was wearing a police uniform,” the SSP said. He stated that based on his complaint, Rajpur police registered an FIR under sections 115(2), 324(4) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. “The initial investigation identified the accused as Divya Pratap Singh and constable Rajesh Singh posted in Haridwar. After correspondence with Haridwar police, the constable was suspended. Police also seized the Bolero vehicle (UK17 U 0006) linked to the incident. After examining CCTV footage and other evidence, the police added sections 30 of the Arms Act and 126/352 of the BNS to the case,” as per SSP. He informed that the police issued a notice to Divya Pratap on Sunday as he was reportedly out of the city during the initial probe, directing him to appear within three days for his statement. His parents received the notice on his behalf. The Dehradun police have also sent a report recommending suspension or cancellation of his arms licence to the Haridwar district magistrate, he added. Contrary to the ideas and actions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, projected in Uttarakhand, the BJP has repeatedly acted contradictory in the worst manner possible, observers opined.
