BJP SC Morcha stages state‑wide protest on social harmony, questions Cong record

Dehradun, 7 Sep: BJP’s Scheduled Caste Morcha today organised a one‑day protest across all the district headquarters in Uttarakhand, highlighting issues of social harmony, equality and respect for every section of society. In Dehradun, the demonstration was held at Gandhi Park where the BJP workers and people from different communities participated in large numbers. The protest was held to counter the Congress march also held today in Dehradun over the issue of alleged insult to the Dalits.
Speakers at the protest said that social respect, equality and harmony are not matters confined to the politics of any single party but are linked to the democratic values and social fabric of the country. They questioned Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on what concrete steps the party had taken during its long tenure in power for the upliftment of Dalits, the deprived and backward sections in social, educational and economic spheres. They pointed out that while Bharat Ratna was conferred on several Congress leaders, BR Ambedkar, who devoted his life to social justice and the rights of the marginalised, was not honoured during Congress rule. They alleged that Congress failed to institutionalise Ambedkar’s vision or integrate the deprived sections into the mainstream in a meaningful way.
Speakers also claimed that in a democracy it is the right of the people to ask questions and the duty of political parties to respond with facts. They reiterated that the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha is committed not to division but towards strengthening the social harmony, equal opportunity, mutual respect and the spirit of taking everyone along. They said the BJP’s clear stand is that every section of society must receive respect and equal opportunity, and social harmony will be strengthened only when political interests are set aside and the dignity and rights of the last person in society are prioritised.
The Morcha conveyed that through demonstrations at all district headquarters, the message of social unity, brotherhood, equality and respect was being spread. It was stated that the Morcha will continue to raise its voice for the honour of the deprived and backward sections and for social harmony.
Among those present at the Dehradun protest were Cabinet Ministers Rekha Arya and Ganesh Joshi, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, BJP’s state spokesperson Kamlesh Raman, former Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, Vinay Goyal, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Siddharth Agarwal, Kunwar Japinder Singh, Ranjit Singh Jakhi, Dayaram and Dheeraj Bhandari along with several BJP office‑bearers and workers.
