
PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Mahendra Bhatt will be officially announced as the Bharatiya Janata Party State president once again as he filed his nomination as the sole candidate for the post on Monday. The nomination process for the BJP State president and members of the national council concluded at the party headquarters in Dehradun, following the earlier notification issued as part of the BJP’s organisational exercise. Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with all BJP MPs from the State and former CMs, proposed Bhatt’s name. His nomination was submitted in five sets, each with different proposers. The main proposers in these sets included Dhami, former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, Garhwal MP and national media in-charge of BJP Anil Baluni, Almora MP Ajay Bhatt and Union Minister Ajay Tamta. Other proposers included State general secretary (Organisation) Ajey Kumar, former CM Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, Rajya Sabha MP Kalpana Saini, Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, cabinet ministers Satpal Maharaj, Ganesh Joshi and Subodh Uniyal, former State BJP president and MLA Bishan Singh Chufal, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’, Vinod Kandari, Ram Singh Kaida, Dilip Singh Rawat and Brijbhushan Gairola. During media interaction, BJP’s State election officer Khajan Das said that the nomination process was conducted between 10 AM and noon. He confirmed that only Bhatt’s name was received for the post of State president. He added that Bhatt’s formal appointment will be announced during the State council meeting scheduled for Tuesday. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, who has been appointed as the central observer for the election, will be present during the announcement. The name will be formally approved by members of the State council, he said. Das informed that the party also completed the nomination process for nine members from Uttarakhand for the BJP’s national council. Those who filed nominations include Dhan Singh Rawat, Ajay Tamta, ‘Nishank’, Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tirath Singh Rawat, Ajay Bhatt, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah and Kalpana Saini. The nominations mark the culmination of the organisational phase of the party’s internal process, he added.
