BRAIN 3.0 Conference to be held at Pantnagar University

Pantnagar, 3 Jun: During a press briefing with representatives of print and electronic media, today, GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology Vice-Chancellor Dr SK Kashyap shared the varsity’s roadmap for taking research, innovation, and industry-academia collaboration to new heights. He informed them that a two-day BRAIN 3.0 (Boosting Research, Academic, Innovation and Networking) Conference will be organised at the university on 26–27 June, bringing together illustrious alumni, scientists, researchers, industry representatives, and experts from various fields.
The Vice-Chancellor stated that the university is giving special priority to multidisciplinary research. Around 45 research projects have been submitted to various national and international funding agencies, and greater emphasis will be placed on outcome-oriented research in the future so that the direct benefits of research can reach farmers and society. He further said that the university is working towards becoming a leader in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, seed production, horticulture, organic and natural farming. As part of this initiative, plans are underway to establish a Centre of Artificial Intelligence. In addition, experienced alumni, industry professionals, and experts from other institutions will be associated with the university as Visiting Adjunct Faculty and Professors of Practice to further strengthening of education, research, and innovation. Dr Kashyap emphasised that the university will actively promote patents, research publications, collaborative research, innovation, and the commercialisation of technologies. Each faculty of the University is being encouraged to develop high-quality research projects and secure resources from various funding agencies.
Discussing the current challenges facing the agricultural sector, he stressed the need to promote natural farming, integrated farming systems, balanced fertiliser use, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM). He noted that the effective dissemination of scientific technologies at the field level is essential for increasing farmers’ incomes and making agriculture more sustainable. He stated that the university’s objective is to provide a new direction to agriculture and rural development through research, innovation, and technological advancement, while bringing positive changes to the lives of farmers.
At the beginning of the press conference, Director, Communication, Dr JP Jaiswal welcomed representatives from the print and electronic media and briefly highlighted the objectives of the interaction. Assistant Director, Communication, Dr Arpita Sharma Kandpal was also present on the occasion.
