Dehradun, 17 Feb: Uttarakhand government has announced the dates for convening the Uttarakhand Assembly Budget Session 2026. In this regard, Principal Secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department, Dhananjay Chaturvedi, has issued the necessary orders. The Budget Session has been summoned from 9 March to 13 March. As Chief Minister Dhami also holds charge of the Finance Department and would present the budget on 11 March.
According to the issued orders, the Budget Session of the Uttarakhand Assembly will be held at the Bharadisain Assembly building in Gairsain, the state’s summer capital, from 9 March to 13 March 2026. The Principal Secretary has written to the Assembly Secretary requesting advance action related to the Assembly Budget Session.
It may be recalled that the upcoming Assembly Budget Session was discussed during the Dhami Cabinet meeting on 15 January 2026. During that meeting, the Cabinet had authorised CM Dhami to decide the final dates and venue for the Assembly Budget Session. Subsequently, on 21 January, CM Dhami had stated that the upcoming Assembly Budget Session would be held at the Assembly building in Bhararisain, Gairsain. However, the dates had not been finalised then.
Accordingly, following Dhami’s approval, the Principal Secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Department informed the Assembly Secretary through a letter today that the session/vote-on-account session will be convened from 9 to 13 March 2026. Through the letter, the department has also urged the Assembly Secretary to begin the preparations for the upcoming Assembly Session. The government had already decided earlier to hold the upcoming Assembly Session in Gairsain. In view of this, all departments are completing their respective preparations.
Additionally, in preparation for the upcoming Assembly Session, the Finance Department had sought proposals from all departments, on which departmental discussions are currently underway.
It may be recalled that the Uttarakhand government had also decided last year in 2025 to hold the Assembly Budget Session in Gairsain. However, last year, maintenance work was ongoing at the Bhararisain Assembly building. Due to this, the Budget Session was ultimately held at the Assembly building in Dehradun. But now, the maintenance work at the Bhararisain Assembly building has been completed. Moreover, the government has already made preparations this year to hold the Assembly Budget Session in Gairsain.
On the other hand, the Finance Department is also preparing the format for the upcoming Assembly Budget Session, which will soon be placed before the Dhami Cabinet.
The Uttarakhand Assembly Budget Session is set to begin from 9 March. On the first day of the Budget Session, Governor, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) will deliver the address, since this is the first session of this calendar year. On the second day of the session, that is 10 March, there will be a discussion on the Governor’s address. On the third day of the Assembly Budget Session, that is 11 March, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will, as Finance Minister, table the budget for the upcoming financial year 2026-27 in the House.
