PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Deciding to intensify efforts to rid the State of substance abuse, the cabinet has decided to form a separate organisational structure for the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). So far, police personnel were deputed to the task force. This was one of the six decisions taken in the meeting of the cabinet chaired by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami here on Wednesday. According to officials the ANTF was formed in 2022 and so far, police personnel were being sent on deputation to serve in the task force. The cabinet has now approved the proposal to form a separate organisation structure for the ANTF for which 22 posts will be formed at the State headquarter level. The posts approved include one deputy superintendent of police, two drug inspectors, one inspector, two sub-inspectors, four chief constables, eight constables and two constable drivers. The cabinet also decided to approve minimum wages to daily wagers working in the Forest department. The decision was taken on the basis of the recommendation of the cabinet sub-committee. The cabinet has decided to pay minimum Rs 18,000 each to the 589 daily wage workers in the department. There are a total of 893 daily wage workers in the department and Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation, out of whom 304 are already receiving the benefit accorded to the remaining workers now. The cabinet also approved the promulgation of the Uttarakhand Employees State Insurance Scheme, labour Medical Service Rules, 2026, under which there will be a total of 94 posts. These include the posts of 76 medical officers, 11 assistant directors, six joint directors and one additional director. In another decision, the cabinet also approved the drafting of the Uttarakhand Prisons and Correctional Services (Amendment) Act, 2026, to bring the definition of “habitual offenders” in accordance with the Supreme Court directions and State laws. The cabinet also decided to withdraw the Payment of bonus (Uttarakhand Amendment) Bill, 2020 intended to provide relief to industries in the State during the Covid-19 pandemic. It will be recalled that the ministry of Labour and Employment had expressed disagreement with the bill’s provisions.
