PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India, Gyanesh Kumar has urged all voters to provide their latest passport-size photograph and cooperate with the Booth Level Officer (BLO) in the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR). He said this on the second day of his Uttarakhand while chairing a high-level review meeting on SIR in Dehradun on Sunday. Kumar said that the main aim of the SIR is to identify the absent, shifted, dead, duplicate and foreign voters to purify the electoral rolls. The State’s chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam informed the CEC that 89 per cent mapping has been conducted in the pre-SIR phase in Uttarakhand. Preparations have also been completed for printing the forms for counting. The first phase of training of district election officers, deputy DEOs, ERO, AEROs has been completed while the training of BLOs and other field staff is underway. The CEC was also informed that a voter awareness campaign is being conducted through various media in the State for SIR. The CEO also said that all the district election officers and EROs have been directed to hold meetings with political parties on a weekly basis. Chief secretary Anand Bardhan, additional director general of police V Murugeshan and other officials were also present in the meeting.
