CM Dhami offers prayers on PM Modi’s behalf at both Dhams, appeals for green and clean Yatra this year  PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Uttarkashi   The world famous Char Dham Yatra-2025 commenced on Wednesday with the ceremonial opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams. Thousands of pilgrims witnessed the ceremony of the opening of the portals. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the portal opening ceremonies of the both the Dhams on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. He performed prayers on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in both Gangotri and Yamunotri temples. Incidentally Dhami is the first CM of the State to attend the portal opening ceremony of Yamunotri. The pilgrims were showered with floral petals by the helicopters in these shrines. The portals of Gangotri Dham were opened to the public at 10.30 am on the day amid chanting of mantras and performance of rituals.  The portals were opened after the Doli bearing the ceremonial idol of Goddess Ganga arrived at Gangotri from the Bhairav temple located in Bhairav Ghati.  The Doli, carrying the ceremonial idol of goddess Yamuna, started the journey from its winter abode in Kharsali early morning. After the arrival of the Doli, the portals of Yamunotri were opened at 11.55 AM on the day. After the opening of portals thousands of pilgrims offered prayers at Gangotri and Yamunotri and took a dip in Ganga and Yamuna. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the Char Dham Yatra has commenced on the pious festival of Akshaya Tritiya. He said that comprehensive arrangements for a safe and well organised Char Dham Yatra this year have been made.  Dhami said efforts have been made to provide basic amenities to pilgrims and traffic management during the Yatra. He expressed confidence that the pilgrims will go back to their homes with happy memories and blessings of the deities. The CM appealed to all the people to assist in clean and green Char Dham Yatra this year. MLA Suresh Chauhan, president of Gangotri temple committee Dharmanand Semwal, district magistrate Meherban Singh Bisht and SP Sarita Dobhal were present in Gangotri while CDO SL Semwal, vice president of Yamunotri temple committee Sanjeev Uniyal and others were present at Yamunotri.
