DEHRADUN, 27 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday participated in Manthan-2025: Fifth National Leaders’ Summit (Women’s Special) organized by the Business Uttarayani organization at Mukhya Sevak Sadan. On this occasion, he honoured women who have made outstanding contributions in startups, self-reliance, and other fields.
Dhami said that this summit has been organized with the objective of encouraging women entrepreneurs. He stated that women, through their talent, hard work, and innovation, have contributed significantly to the progress of their families, society, and the state. Women are also playing an important role in the economic and social development of the state. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guided by the mantra “Nari Tu Narayani,” is continuously working with commitment towards the welfare and empowerment of women.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, several landmark initiatives for women empowerment have been implemented, including 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and State Legislatures, the Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao campaign, the Ujjwala Scheme, the Jan Dhan Scheme, the Lakhpati Didi Scheme, and the abolition of the regressive practice of triple talaq. He added that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the women of New India are making a strong mark in every field. Women are establishing their identity across diverse sectors such as industry, art, education, science, sports, research, and the armed forces.
Pushkar Singh Dhami further said that under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the state government is also working with full dedication for the welfare of women. Greater participation of women is being ensured in areas such as education, health, entrepreneurship, and self-employment. Through initiatives like the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission, Sashakt Behna Utsav Scheme, and the Chief Minister Women Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme, the state government has created new opportunities for women.

He said that under the Chief Minister Udyamshala Scheme, products manufactured by women’s groups are being developed as brands. Incubation facilities are being provided to more than 15,000 women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and Lakhpati Didis. The state has also launched an umbrella brand called House of Himalayas, under which high-quality products are being made available to consumers through various e-commerce platforms and in-house stores.
The Chief Minister said that nearly 70,000 self-help groups have been formed in the state, bringing together around 5 lakh women who are collectively running businesses. Through more than 7,000 village organizations and over 500 cluster organizations, women of the state are presenting a unique example of collective leadership. More than 1,68,000 women have become Lakhpati Didis, creating a new milestone in the direction of women empowerment. Considering the work being done by women, the state government is developing a strong ecosystem for product processing, packaging, and marketing within the state.
He added that women in the state are also achieving remarkable success in the startup sector. Startups established by women are performing exceptionally well in areas such as traditional arts, agricultural products, education, digital services, and technology. He said that Uttarakhand has been placed in the Achievers category for Ease of Doing Business and has also secured the Leaders category in startup rankings. The Chief Minister noted that 30 per cent reservation for women has been implemented in government services in the state. To ensure women’s safety and protection of their rights, the state has also taken the historic step of being the first to implement the Uniform Civil Code.
Not only for her fight for women’s right, Wg Cdr Anupama Joshi (Retd) was awarded for supporting entrepreneurs and small holders amongst farmers through her company Samunnati Agri. The largest value chain company working for betterment of small hold farmers by providing market linkages.
Alka Pandey, and Ranjana Rawat were also awarded by the Chief Minister on the occasion.
On this occasion, Vice Chairperson of the State-Level Women Entrepreneurship Council Vinod Uniyal, Virendra Semwal, Ganga Bisht, Colonel DP Dimri (Retd), Madhu Bhatt, Geeta Khanna, Neeraj, and other dignitaries were present.
