Dehradun, 29 Jan: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Uttarakhand State Council and Himalaya Wellness Company celebrated ‘Nanhi Chhaan’ at the Himalaya Wellness Company, Dehradun. The Nanhi Chhaan initiative seeks to honour and recognise the importance of preserving trees and protecting girls and, in turn, mothers. The objective of CII Nanhi Chhaan initiative is to sensitise industry on the issues pertaining to gender equality and ecological conservation, to forge bilateral, trilateral and multilateral partnerships to combat adverse sex ratio and a call for sustained industry’s intervention by way of special projects to promote the girl child and enhance green cover.
Dr S Farooq, Past Chairman, CII Uttarakhand State Council & President, Himalaya Wellness Company, Dehradun, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, saying, “Nanhi Chhaan is not just a campaign for us; it is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and social welfare. Through this initiative, we aim to make a positive impact on the environment while contributing to the well-being of future generations.”
Gaurav Lamba, Director & Head, CII Uttarakhand State Council, highlighted the inherent connection between the environment and women, emphasising that, both, trees and mothers are regarded as nature’s foremost nurturers and providers.
During this year’s celebration, 15 beneficiaries were honoured, each receiving a cheque of Rs 15,000 along with a plant. The initiative not only provides financial support but also emphasises the importance of cultivating an environmentally conscious and socially responsible community.
