
my uttarakhand news BureauDehradun, 13 Mar: The four-day Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 of CIMS & UIHMT Group of Colleges, Dehradun, concluded on a vibrant and celebratory note, marked by enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and active student participation. Organized under the theme “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Sports,” the event witnessed students competing with great energy and dedication across a variety of sporting disciplines.The concluding ceremony was graced by Geeta Dhami, President of Seva Sankalp Foundation, and SSP Ajay Singh, STF- Dehradun, as the Chief Guests, who felicitated the winning students with medals and certificates. Several distinguished guests also attended the ceremony, including Deepankar Ghildiyal, District Social Welfare Officer, Dehradun; Girish Pancholi, Joint Director (Law); Ranveer Chauhan, Director of Panacea Hospital; and Rajesh Jain. Ramesh Chandra Joshi, CMD of the institution, was also present on the occasion.The ceremony began with an impressive parade by the NCC cadets, pipe band, and participating students, showcasing discipline and coordination. The chief guests took the salute and appreciated the cadets and participants for their spirited performance, adding dignity and grandeur to the event.Addressing the gathering, Geeta Dhami congratulated the students for their remarkable participation and emphasised the importance of sports in shaping discipline, confidence, and teamwork among youth. She encouraged students to adopt sports and positive activities as an integral part of their lives and to stay away from substance abuse. Appreciating the institution’s Mission Education Scheme, she highlighted its role in providing educational opportunities to economically weaker students. She also praised the anti-drug awareness campaign being spearheaded by Chairman Advocate Lalit Mohan Joshi, noting that organising the sports meet under the theme “No to Drugs and Yes to Fitness” was a meaningful extension of that initiative. In a gesture that delighted the audience, she also joined participants in the women’s tug-of-war event, boosting their morale.SSP Ajay Singh, while addressing the students, remarked that sports competitions during college life create lasting memories and help build discipline, resilience, and a positive outlook. He urged young people to actively engage in sports to remain physically fit and to stay away from harmful habits such as drug abuse.In the overall results of the competition, Neelkanth House emerged as the overall champion with an impressive tally of 28 medals (11 gold, 11 silver, and 6 bronze). Nanda Devi House secured the second position with 24 medals (9 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze), while Trishul House finished third with 22 medals (9 gold, 8 silver, and 5 bronze).The four-day sporting event concluded with a strong message promoting fitness, discipline, and a drug-free lifestyle among youth.
