
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Uttarakhand government has taken a decision to provide a one time grant of Rs five lakh to the recipients of the President Police- Gallantry award winning para military personnel. An announcement in this regard was made by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in a programme organised at the Camp headquarters of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Haldwani on Wednesday. In another announcement, the CM said that the former para military personnel and their Veer Naris will get a relaxation of 25 per cent in the stamp duty on purchase of immovable assets in the State. This relaxation will be provided once in their lifetime. He said that the Uttarakhand Para Military Welfare council will be activated and a room for its office will be provided at the directorate of Soldier Welfare in Dehradun. He said that a post of deputy director ( para military) will be created at the Soldier Welfare directorate. Similarly a post of assistant district soldier welfare officer ( para military) will be constituted in the bigger districts of the State. In the programme, the CM directed the district magistrate to select a land for CGHS building in the district. Terming the para military personnel as the pride of the nation, the CM said that they are serving the country at every front. The CM said that a soldier never becomes former and he remains a soldier throughout his life. He said that the State government has increased the ex gratia payment to dependents of martyrs of the para military personnel from Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs. A hike in the grant of the recipients of Ashok Chakra, Kirti Chakra and Shaurya Chakra has been made. Similarly the government has made arrangements in which a government job to one dependent of the martyred soldiers is being provided. The CM said that rapid modernisation of the armed forces of the country has taken place under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Dhami said that the State government has taken strict action on illegal encroachers and their activities. A total of 10,000 acre of government land has been freed from encroachers and more than 550 illegal structures have been demolished. The programme was also addressed by Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi, Haldwani mayor Gajraj Bisht and others.
