
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the State administration must work with efficiency, transparency and speed, and that officers should ensure that every plan and decision is goal-oriented and people-centric.He was addressing an informal meeting with the Indian Administrative Service officers from Uttarakhand at his residence on Saturday. The meeting was held in the context of the ongoing Administrative Officers’ Conference (AOC) in the State. He said that Uttarakhand has faced many challenges in its 25 year journey and the hard work, dedication, and foresight of the state’s administrative machinery have played a significant role in these achievements. Exhorting the officers to work with greater speed, determination and resolve he said that the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the ongoing decade should belong to Uttarakhand should be realised. Terming the coming five years as decisive for Uttarakhand, the CM said, “We have to take the State to such a point where every citizen feels that the state is going through decisive and positive change.’’The CM said that since the decisions taken by the officers directly affect millions of people, they should work with sensitivity, foresight and with factual thinking. “The prestige of the position lasts for the duration of your tenure, but the respect for your work lasts a lifetime. Consider your position not just a job, but as a sacred opportunity to serve the society,’’ he said. On a stern note, the CM said that the apathetic work styles will not be tolerated and directed that no work be unnecessarily delayed. He said that the benefits of the schemes should reach individuals transparently and timely. The CM said that officers should ensure monthly reviews, continuous monitoring and site inspections in their areas. He expressed confidence that IAS officers, with their dedication, hard work and determination will continue to play a leading role in achieving the mantra of good governance and ‘Vikalp Rahit Sankalp’ of the State government. In the programme chief secretary Anand Bardhan shared the experiences of the ongoing AOC in Dehradun.
