
PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami assured justice to the family members of farmer Sukhwant Singh who had committed suicide early on Sunday. Dhami interacted with Parvinder Singh, the brother of Kashipur farmer Sukhwant Singh on the phone on Tuesday. He expressed grief on the demise of Sukhwant Singh and said that the State government is committed to ensure that strictest possible legal punishment is given to the culprits. He told Sukhwant Singh’s brother in the presence of his father and other family members that the government is standing firmly with the family, adding that the culprits will not be spared. The CM said that immediately after the unfortunate incident, he ordered the Kumaon commissioner to conduct a magisterial inquiry in the case. Assuring justice to the bereaved family, the CM said that he will soon visit them. Alleging harassment by the police and some people who had cheated him in a land deal, Singh, a farmer of Kashipur had committed suicide at a hotel in Haldwani. In a video, which he had shot just before his suicide, Singh had blamed many persons including high ranking officers of police for his suicide.
