PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated Air India Express’ Dehradun-Bengaluru air service at Dehradun airport in Jolly Grant on Monday, marking the airline’s first operation from Uttarakhand. The inaugural flight departed Dehradun at 4:30 PM and landed in Bengaluru at 7:30 PM. The aircraft featured tail art inspired by Uttarakhand’s traditional Aipan design as part of the airline’s Tales of India initiative. He said that the direct daily flights will strengthen trade, tourism and educational ties with Bengaluru while offering better travel options for students, professionals and entrepreneurs. Dhami said that the State government has been consistently putting efforts to expand aviation infrastructure across the State, mentioning ongoing developments at Dehradun airport, Pantnagar airport and regional airports in Pithoragarh, Chinyalisaur, Gauchar and Naini Saini. He said that improved connectivity will open new opportunities for investment, tourism and employment in the State. Air India Express managing director Aloke Singh said that Dehradun has become the airline’s 58th station, with the new route offering both direct connectivity to Bengaluru and convenient one-stop connections to 18 more Indian cities. He stated that the service is part of the airline’s rapid expansion and commitment to strengthening regional connectivity. Senior officials, Air India Express representatives and passengers attended the ceremony.
