PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) hospital at Kedarnath Dham on Friday. The hospital will be operated by the Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society. Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said that the State government is continuously striving to provide better and faster healthcare facilities to pilgrims visiting Kedarnath Dham. He added that the hospital, equipped with modern medical facilities, will provide a new impetus to healthcare services in this high Himalayan region with difficult geographical conditions.  Dhami added that the hospital will prove extremely beneficial for pilgrims as well as local residents during the Yatra. The CM said that the State government and district administration are giving special priority to health services to ensure a safe, smooth and organized pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham. Adequate arrangements for doctors, paramedical staff, health check-ups, oxygen facilities and emergency medical services have been made along the pilgrimage route, ensuring that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience. He said that the State government is continuously working to improve the health services. The CM said that about 61 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued by the State government so far under the Ayushman scheme. Lakhs of patients are getting free treatment in the State under this scheme. Dhami said that the government is working to establish a medical college in every district of the State. During this visit, the Chief Minister prayed for the state’s prosperity and public welfare by visiting and worshipping Baba Kedar. He said that Shri Kedarnath Dham is not only a centre of faith, but also a symbol of service and humanity, and with this spirit, the government is working towards strengthening health and public facilities in Devbhoomi.  Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, the hospital is an excellent example of service, dedication and public welfare, which will play an important role in providing better health facilities to lakhs of devotees and local people in the future. The chairman and managing director of BPCL Sanjay Khanna, Sah  Sar Karyavah of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Krishna Gopal and others were present on the occasion. The Hospital Located at an altitude of approximately 12,000 feet, the BPCL hospital is equipped with medical facilities curated to endure the challenges of high-altitude conditions. These facilities include emergency care in difficult terrains, pulmonary medicine, cardiology emergency care, trauma and accident care, orthopaedics, general medicine and a fully functional critical care unit (ICU). It also has an oxygen bank, portable ventilators and a 24/7 ambulance service.
