PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to remove encroachments on the banks of River Ganga and other rivers on a priority basis. He gave the order during a meeting with the officers of the State administration at his residence on Friday.  The CM said that a strong mechanism should be created to prevent encroachment on government land in the State. He stressed on the need for an effective action plan to prevent encroachment on government land and to stop its illegal sale.  In the meeting the CM reviewed the removal of illegal encroachment from government land.  He said that a team of Irrigation, Public Works, Forest and Revenue departments should be formed at the district level and a campaign should be undertaken to remove encroachments. He directed the Chief Secretary to appoint a nodal officer at the government level to look into the cases of encroachment in the plain areas of the State. The CM also directed to take strict legal action against those who occupy government land and also to ensure effective measures to stop the cases of making fake documents of land by forging.  He asked the additional director general AP Anshuman to make the verification process of the outsiders more stringent. The ADG informed him that a report is being sought on 18 points for verification, the data of which is also being compiled at the State level.  Principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretary SN Pandey,  special secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate and others attended the meeting.
