PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed the December instalment of various pensions under the Social Welfare department through DBT here on Sunday. The CM transferred a sum of Rs 140.26 crore online into the accounts of 9.43 lakh beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, Dhami said that the State government is consistently working for the social and economic uplift of the weaker sections of society, aged citizens, widows, differently-abled persons and those without support. In order to strengthen the transparent governance system in the State, all types of payments to beneficiaries are being made through DBT directly to their bank accounts. This has also ensured punctuality and transparency in the process, he said. The CM directed the Social Welfare department officials those about to become eligible for the old-age pension from the age of 60 years should be identified at the age of 59 years so that they are able to receive their pension soon on becoming eligible for it. The government is aiming to ensure that every eligible beneficiary does not face any type of difficulty in accessing the benefits of welfare schemes, Dhami said. Regular verification should be conducted and monitoring should be enhanced to ensure that any citizen eligible for pension is not left without it, the CM added.
