Dehradun, 1 Jan: On the occasion of the New Year, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off 100 new buses from his Camp Office here, today, which have been inducted in the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC). With this the fleet of the Corporation has been expanded significantly. In addition, the CM also dedicated 10 AC and 2 sleeper contracted buses to the public.
During the programme, Dhami also released the Corporation’s souvenir, ‘Anvarat’, and a road safety calendar. He also honoured the UTC employees recognised for integrity and dedication under challenging circumstances.

On the occasion, Dhami stated that new buses, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, would significantly strengthen the state’s public transport system. He emphasised that safe, convenient and affordable travel facilities would give fresh impetus to Uttarakhand’s economic, social and tourism activities. In a mountain state like Uttarakhand, he noted, a robust transport network is vital for citizens’ convenience, safety and development.
The CM also shared that construction of more than 13 new bus stands and workshops has been completed, while work is underway at 14 other locations, including four ISBTs. He added that electric buses will also be soon inducted into the fleet. Modern facilities such as GPS, CCTV cameras, e-ticketing, fleet monitoring and timely maintenance are being ensured in the Corporation’s buses to enhance safety of passengers and staff. Dhami further said that the government has implemented DA increases, adopted the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and is addressing manpower shortages through new recruitments in the UTC.
Dhami observed that the government considers the UTC as a ‘medium of service’ and is committed to making it modern, self-reliant and people-oriented. Backed by transparent policies and accountability, Uttarakhand continues to move forward on the path of progress, he asserted.
Among those present on the occasion were Cabinet Ministers Ganesh Joshi and Subodh Uniyal, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Khajan Das, Umesh Sharma Kau and Savita Kapoor, along with MD, Transport Corporation, and Additional Secretary, Reena Joshi, and other officials of the transport department.
