CM flags off 15 vehicles for waste management provided under CSR

Khatima, 25 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday flagged off 15 vehicles for solid and liquid waste management in Khatima, including seven electric garbage collection vehicles provided by Nestlé India under CSR.
Nestlé India provided one electric waste collection vehicle each for Dharampur, Chhattarpur, Bindukheda (Fauji Matkota), Kiratpur, Baghwala, Danpur, and Nagla Tarai. Britannia also provided health and nutrition products on this occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen sanitation systems in rural and urban areas and protect the environment. He said that modern resources, public participation, and the cooperation of the corporate sector play an important role in better management of solid and liquid waste.
The Chief Minister said that the self-sustaining model being developed at the village panchayat level will help make the sanitation system more effective. He said that the government is striving to make the state’s waste collection and disposal system more organised and effective.
Chief Development Officer Divesh Sasni said that under the direction of the District Magistrate, an action plan for solid and liquid waste management has been prepared through 71 clusters in 373 gram panchayats of Udham Singh Nagar district. MoUs have been signed with the respective municipal bodies for regular garbage collection and disposal in rural areas and major local markets adjacent to the municipal bodies.
He informed that a total fleet of 231 vehicles has been prepared for waste management in the district. This includes 134 e-rickshaws and 75 tractor-trolleys under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), as well as vehicles provided through CSR and other schemes. The District Panchayat is also operating compactors in various development blocks.District Panchayat President Ajay Maurya, Mayor Vikas Sharma, Block Chief Reena Gautam, District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, SSP Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Divesh Sasni, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister and Member Secretary CSR Manmohan Mainali, and Nestlé India’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director Kunwar Himmat Singh, along with other public representatives and officials were present on the occasion.
