Wednesday, 28 August 2024 | my uttarakhand news | DEHRADUN Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami handed over appointment letters to 72 assistant professors recently recruited by the higher education department at his residence on Tuesday. The new assistant professors are of sociology, economics and English subjects. The CM also launched a portal for providing a sum of Rs 50,000 to meritorious students of the state in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Institute. Congratulating the newly appointed college teachers, the CM said that teachers play an important role in building the future of students. He said that higher education plays an important role in giving the right direction to youngsters. Teachers also play an important role in making students responsible towards society and the country along with giving them good education. He expressed confidence that the newly selected assistant professors will use innovation at their workplace and make the society aware of the ill effects of social evils. The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that the third decade of the 21st century will be the decade of Uttarakhand and the State government is moving forward in this direction.   He said that the preparations for implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state are in the final stage.  Dhami said that in the last three years, many decisions have been taken in public interest by the State government. He said that more than 16,000 youth have been given appointments in different departments of the State government.  The State has enacted a strict anti –copying act and an anti-riot law has been implemented. The State has got the first place in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals released by Niti Aayog. The Chief Minister said that higher education is the basis for honing human resources. He said that work is being done in all areas of building infrastructure and expanding technology in the State’s government colleges and universities. Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Umesh Sharma Kau, Khajan Das, Savita Kapoor, vice president of the higher education development board  Devendra Bhasin, secretary higher education Shailesh Bagoli, additional secretary Ashish Srivastava and other officers attended the programme.
