PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the new building of PM Shri Kendriya Vidhyalaya in Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar district on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the CM expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on behalf of all the residents of Khatima for giving the gift of Kendriya Vidyalaya to Khatima.  “Had there been a KV in Khatima when he was a student, I would have studied here.  I made every possible effort to establish a KV here while being an MLA. The establishment of KV in the Khatima area will play an important role in providing quality education to the children here and in their overall development,’’ he said. The CM said that under the leadership of PM Modi historic steps have been taken towards improving the education system of the country. He said that through the National Education Policy ( NEP)- 2020 the children are getting help in achieving success in competitive examinations along with employment-oriented education. Research and investigation is also being encouraged in this, which is also developing scientific thinking among children and youth, he said.  The CM said that Uttarakhand is the first state in the country to implement the NEP.  Terming Khatima as his home, its residents as his family members, the CM said that he started his journey of public service from Khatima.  He said that the State government has taken many important steps to strengthen the infrastructure in Khatima ranging from health, education, and drinking water. The CM said that strict action is being taken against people with hateful mindsets in the State. He said that strict anti-riot and anti-conversion laws have been implemented in the State and more than 6,500 acres of government land has been freed from encroachment in the State. More than 500 illegal structures have also been removed along with sealing more than 200 illegal Madarsas in the State. Dhami said that Operation Kalanemi has also been started in the State through which strict action is being taken against the hypocrites who defame Sanatan Dharma.  He added that work is being done under the zero tolerance policy to root out corruption from the State. As a result of this, in the last three years, we have sent more than 200 people, including IAS, PCS, involved in corruption, behind the bars, he said. Khatima Mayor Vikas Sharma and others attended the ceremony.
