PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the House of Himalayas outlet at the Uttarakhand Niwas complex in New Delhi on Tuesday. This outlet will showcase the traditional heritage and organic products of Uttarakhand in the national capital. Dhami emphasised that this initiative stems from the vision of the State government to provide global recognition to the natural and handmade goods produced in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand. This step is expected to strengthen the rural economy and create new opportunities for local artisans and craftsmen. In alignment with the Char dham Yatra, the State government has established attractive floor-standing units and retail carts at over 13 prominent locations to promote local products at pilgrimage and tourist sites. These sites include Naini Saini airport, Pantnagar airport, Dehradun helipad, GMVN in Kedarnath, Badrinath, Harshil, Guptkashi, Kaudiyala, Mussoorie, Parmarth Niketan (Rishikesh), Snow Crest (Badrinath), ATI (Nainital) and Centrio Mall in Dehradun. Additionally, the process of setting up retail carts is progressing in institutions such as Marriott Mussoorie, Taj Dehradun, FRI, LBSNAA and Delhi Haat, he added.  Rural Development secretary Radhika Jha stated that the House of Himalayas brand has quickly gained a special identity based on its quality. Products from this brand are available on houseofhimalayas.com as well as major e-commerce platforms. The brand is also establishing a presence in major hotel chains. To promote the cultural and traditional identity of Uttarakhand and connect high-end tourists with local products, strategic partnerships have been formed with reputed hotels, she said.
