Ensure enhanced facilities for attendants and strengthening of sanitation in hospital: Dhami  PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted a surprise inspection of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital and thoroughly reviewed the healthcare services, treatment quality and overall hospital arrangements.  During the inspection, the chief minister interacted with several admitted patients, enquired about their health and sought feedback regarding the medical facilities being provided by the hospital. Through direct interaction with patients and their attendants, the CM gained firsthand understanding of the service quality and issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials.  As part of the State government’s commitment to improving healthcare services, the chief minister visited the waiting area of the hospital and issued clear directions to ensure adequate facilities for the attendants accompanying patients.  Dhami instructed officials to make proper arrangements for drinking water, fans and sufficient seating in the waiting rooms so that attendants, who are an integral part of the hospital ecosystem, are provided with basic amenities, ensuring a mentally comfortable environment. He further directed that the hospital premises be maintained with regular cleanliness, sanitisation, and proper painting and renovation. The Chief Minister emphasised that a hospital is not just a place of treatment but also a space that provides emotional and physical support to patients and their families. Hence, cleanliness, beautification and systematic upkeep are of utmost importance.  He stressed that the convenience and dignity of patients and their families are a top priority for the state government and reaffirmed that every possible effort is being made to ensure better services in government hospitals.  Dhami also visited the blood sample collection centre, where he interacted with the operator and obtained detailed information regarding the sample collection process, its recording and subsequent laboratory testing. He appreciated the efficiency of the technology and resources being used and instructed for their regular monitoring.  On this occasion, the CM directed the hospital administration, medical officers, and staff to ensure timely and quality treatment for all patients, stating that the state government is committed to further strengthening health services and will provide all necessary resources for the same. He further emphasised that transparency, sensitivity, and prompt service delivery in healthcare must be ensured so that the general public receives direct and effective benefits.  During his visit, the chief minister also reviewed the Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana help desk set up within the hospital premises. He interacted with the staff deployed at the help desk and enquired about the scheme’s implementation, the assistance being provided to beneficiaries, the card issuance process, claim handling for patients, and the general public services being offered. He also spoke directly with some beneficiaries present at the desk to hear about their experiences and understand the operational efficiency of the help desk.  The CM directed that every eligible person should be ensured access to the benefits of the Atal Ayushman Yojana. He emphasised that the help desk must provide clear, simple, and prompt information to every visitor so that they can avail of the scheme without any difficulty.  Dhami added that this ambitious scheme of the State government is a lifeline for the poor and needy patients, and its effective implementation requires continuous vigilance and active cooperation from all concerned departments.
