He said that the development projects launched on Sunday in different parts of the State will play a vital role in making Uttarakhand a leading State. “Our government is working for the all round development of the State. A day ago Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority projects worth Rs 226 crore were launched. During the past two months development projects launched in various parts of the State include projects worth Rs 2,215 crore in Tanakpur, Rs 5,868 crore in Haridwar, Rs 161 crore in Champawat, Rs 117 crore in Almora, Rs 828 crore in Pauri and Rs 456 crore in Rudraprayag. Considering this, projects worth more than Rs 18,000 crore have been launched in the State during the past two months. This shows the swift pace of work being undertaken on the development policy to make Uttarakhand a leading State. The projects launched in the programme today include those related to roads, health, drinking water, irrigation, housing and rural development which will improve the present. Further, development works related to big educational institutions, polytechnic colleges, sports stadium, energy, dairy and tourism will help make Uttarakhand capable, strong and self-reliant in the future,” the CM said. Dhami further said that a new work culture has been developed in the State by following the mantra of simplification, solution and satisfaction which has also brought about an improvement in the living standards of the people. The CM said that the State government is aiming to double the GSDP in five years. A work plan is also being prepared on which best practices and innovations can be undertaken in every district by 2025. “Our government is the first to pass the Uniform Civil Code bill in the State. Its implementation will provide relief from various types of exploitation especially to our Muslim sisters and daughters. A lot of Muslim women thank me for this step, like a group of Muslim women who thanked the government at a programme in Udham Singh Nagar recently for passing the UCC bill. We have also undertaken a campaign against land jihad and freed more than 5,000 acre government land from illegal constructions and encroachment. Maintaining law and order is as important as facilitating development. We have given full freedom to the police and administration to take strict action against any person trying to spread disturbance in the State. One by one, the police have identified and arrested those involved in the recent violence and arson in Vanbhulpura area. We have also brought a law under which rioters will have to pay for the damage they cause,” Dhami added. Cabinet ministers Dhan Singh Rawat, Prem Chand Aggarwal, public representatives and beneficiaries of various government schemes were also present on the occasion.
