PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. In the meeting the CM apprised the PM about the status of various development projects underway in the State and pitched for new projects.  He requested the PM that the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project connecting Delhi to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh should be extended to Haridwar and Rishikesh. He also said that considering its strategic location, available trained human resources and industrial infrastructure the centre should set up defence equipment manufacturing units in Uttarakhand.  Dhami also requested the Union government’s cooperation in setting up Defence Equipment Production Industrial Hub in Kotdwar, Haridwar and Dehradun. The CM also proposed that seaplane service be launched in Tehri Lake. He requested that an expressway connecting Delhi with Haldwani should be constructed. He said that the project would facilitate travel to Kashipur, Rudrapur Industrial area, Pantnagar Airport, and Jim Corbett National Park in Ramnagar.  Emphasizing the need to expand rail connectivity, the CM requested the early inauguration of the Rishikesh to Byasi section of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, construction of a road-rail tunnel on the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line, survey of a new Bageshwar-Karnprayag rail line and doubling of the Haridwar-Dehradun rail line. He also requested for construction of the Rishikesh-Uttarkashi rail line. He informed the PM that more than 6,000 home-stays have been registered under the Home-Stay Scheme. The CM said that the State has set up a Centre of Excellence for apple, cherry, plum and pear in Chaubatia of Almora. He also said that for the development of border areas, employment is being generated by promoting local culture, food and handicrafts in selected villages under the Vibrant Village Programme of the Central government. Describing the Mukhyamantri Solar Self-Employment Scheme as a game changer for the rural economy, Dhami said that under this scheme, thousands of families have become self-employed through solar energy-based projects. He said that through the ‘Devbhoomi Parivar Yojana’, a unified digital database of families in the state is being created to ensure transparent delivery of schemes.  He said that the State government will provide 10 per cent reservation in State services to former Agniveers.  He informed that after Ramnagar, Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Triyuginarayan, the State government is developing Chaupta, Duggalbitta, Patwadangar and Sharda Corridor areas as global wedding destinations. The CM said Bel Kedar, Anjanisain-Tehri and Lohaghat-Shyamlatal areas have been identified as Spiritual Economic Zones in the state. CM presents local products to PM DEHRADUN:  Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented a replica of Shaktipeeth Maa Surkanda Devi located in Tehri district to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the meeting. He also presented a container of ghee of local Badri cows, five types of kidney beans and honey brought from different districts of the State to the PM. He thanked the PM for assistance of Rs 500 crore for Haridwar Kumbh-2027, feasibility study by National Water Development Agency under River Linking Project, approval of Rs 100 crore for the development of Chaurasi Kutiya, MoU for Naini-Saini airstrip in Pithoragarh and cooperation in operating safe heli services for Chardham Yatra. Dhami invites PM Modi to Uttarakhand DEHRADUN:  Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami invited the PM to visit Uttarakhand for inauguration and foundation stone laying of various projects. The PM is expected to inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and the Tehri Pump Storage Plant during his visit. He is also expected to lay the foundation stones of the expansion of Pantnagar Airport and the Banbasa Land Port project.
