PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to keep in mind the requirement for next 30 years while preparing plans for drinking water schemes. He said that effective steps should be taken to conserve rainwater and increase the groundwater level. The CM gave the instructions while presiding over a meeting of the Drinking Water and Watershed Management departments at the State secretariat on Thursday. The CM ordered that public cooperation should be taken for the revival of water sources, rivers and water streams and suggestions of people working in this field should be taken and included in future action plans. He said that separate and concrete plans should be made for drinking water, water storage and water conservation while keeping in mind the requirements of the next 10 years and 30 years.  Dhami said that it should be ensured that the water of Ganga is completely potable till the last point it flows in the State. He said that a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) should be set up on the tributaries of Ganga. The CM said that to ensure regular water supply to people from the connections installed under Jal Jeevan Mission, new water sources should also be identified along with the revival of old water sources. He said that the quality of drinking water in the state should be tested from time to time. Dhami said regular monitoring of public complaints should also be done at the department level.  In the meeting the CM sought a list of personnel posted at the same place for five years and more. On a stern note, the CM said that the different departments concerned should work in coordination to resolve the complaints of road digging while laying new drinking water lines. He said that the work of the stream and river rejuvenation authority (SARA) has also been appreciated by the union Jal Shakti ministry. It was informed in the meeting that special focus is being laid on Jal Sakhi, water reuse and drinking water management in the state. The vice president of State infrastructure monitoring council Vishwas Dabar, chief secretary Anand Bardhan, principal secretary RK Sudhanshu, R Meenakshi Sundartam, secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Ranvir Singh, special secretary Parag Madhukar Dhakate and others attended the meeting.
