DEHRADUN, 4 Apr: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed trainee police constables at the Police Lines here on Saturday and he urged them to dedicate themselves to public service and strengthen the State’s law and order machinery. He also encouraged the young recruits to play an active role in disaster management, which, he reminded, is vital in a hill state like Uttarakhand. He further called upon them to work towards ensuring smooth traffic arrangements, particularly during the Yatra and the tourist seasons.
Dhami reminded the constables that Uttarakhand frequently faces natural calamities such as landslides, flash floods and cloudbursts, which makes the disaster preparedness an essential part of policing. He stressed on the importance of maintaining close coordination with the public, focusing on crime control, and adopting modern technologies to improve traffic systems and safeguard travellers.
He called upon the recruits to embrace modern training methods and remain committed to the ethos of public service, noting that society places immense trust in police officers, often seeing them as protectors in times of crisis. He urged them to live up to this faith by working with dedication, compassion and integrity.
